家族を大切するように

Class: JAPN 4160

Date of Completion: 2/25/2025

This piece was prepared for the JAPN 4160 class speech contest. In this speech, I express how important it is to value one's family while you are able to be around them. I won the in class speech contest using this speech, and was nominated to compete in the 2025 Clemson University Japanese Speech Contest. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts with another course I was enrolled in, I was unable to participate in the 2025 Speech Contest with this speech, but I am still proud of this heartfelt piece.

PDCAサイクルについて

Class: JAPN 3160

Date of Completion: 12/12/24

I wrote this piece as a final project for JAPN 3160. After studying the internal operations of Japanese corporations, I was tasked with analyzing a specific topic of my choosing and relating it to what we have learned - so I chose the PDCA Cycle. PDCA stands for "Plan, Do, Check, Act" and is known for being used by Toyota, a major Japanese car manufacturer.

A Competitive Analysis of Ireland and the United States

Class: MGT 4150

Date of Completion: 6/17/25

This paper was the final project for the capstone business course: Business Strategy in Ireland. After conducting 3 company visits during the semester, my group and I were tasked with analyzing how an American company could most effectively launch a brand new location in Ireland. I honed in on how Chick-Fil-A could do so in the latter half of the paper, and we received resoundingly positive feedback on our ideas from the professor.

Whole Foods Company Analysis

Class: MGT 3030

Date of Completion: 4/23/25

This paper was apart of a much larger group project where we were tasked with launching an American company in Germany. After conducting extensive research throughout the semester, my group decided that Whole Foods would be a great company to launch due to the lack of direct competition in Germany and its the power of its parent company - Amazon. As such, I was tasked with conducting a more in depth competitive analysis for our final presentation.

In The Blink of an Eye: Influencing in the UAE

Class: MKT 4270

Date of Completion: 4/21/25

This group project was a culmination of all of the topics that we studied throughout the semester in International Marketing. My group was tasked with analyzing 3 Middle Eastern countries (the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey), and choosing which country would have the strongest potential cosmetic market. We did so by analyzing the GDP, GDP per Capita, population of women in a given age range, and more to come to the conclusion that the UAE was the best market. From there, I found a influencer for us to frame the project around - Mona Tajarbi - and began leading this capstone project. Directing this project took an immense amount of time and effort over the course of about 2 weeks, but it paid off because my group successfully presented the project in front of the class, and was awarded the Best Final Project award from our professor. And, I even was personally congratulated by our influencer of choice, Mona Tajarbi herself! I chose the title "In The Blink of an Eye" for 3 specific reasons. First, eye makeup is the largest cosmetic product category in the Middle East by far. Second, Mona Tajarbi has a product line called "Blink by Mona." And third, Mona said in an interview that through influencing her life changed "in the blink of an eye for the better." I continued to put that amount of time and care into this project, resulting in a presentation that I am truly proud of. While the actual powerpoint presentation is unfortunately too large to upload, I believe that this work sample is a great representation of my hard work and dedication as a business student.

Monster Project Essay: Norurun, The Train Conductor

Class: Japanese Literature—Yokai in Literature

Date of Completion: 1/9/24

This essay was the final project for the Japanese Literature course I took while studying in Japan. In this Yokai in Literature course, we spent the semester analyzing the most classic examples of Yokai - or monsters/ghosts - throughout Japanese history. As a capstone for the course, my professor asked the class to create their own Yokai that are present in their lives, and present them to the class. I chose to make my monster a train conductor because almost every morning I was made late to class by the local Meguro Line train crossing because the train would always "happen" to pass by right as I was walking to the station. This project was quite fun, and helped me recall what we had learned from the entire semester.

Classroom Differences Between The U.S. and Japan

Class: Japanese Society 5—Education In Japan

Date of Completion: 8/12/24

This essay was the final project for the Japanese Education course that I took during my study abroad as a culture class. Throughout the semester, we analyzed Japanese school from elementary to the college level. For the final project, I was tasked with comparing the Japanese classroom to the American classroom. It was very interesting to compare the two using my experience in both classrooms. Finally, we were tasked with sharing our findings with our classmates on the last day of class, which led to interesting discussions between the native Japanese students and the study abroad students.
